In 1887 a 75 year lease from Bristol Corporation was taken up by Bristol brewers J & T Usher at a cost of £749 18s 1d. In 1888 the pub was rebuilt, costing Ushers £212 plus architects fees of £27 15s 5d, the builder was George Humphreys of Woodborough Street, Stapleton Road. The White Lion is still trading.
