Olivers Wine Merchants, one of the first buildings to appear on the newly built Victoria Street in 1871. The company name was changed in 1913 to Olivers (1913) Ltd, also in this year the premises became known as the Bell, this could be a reference to a pub that was on or near this spot in Thomas Street prior to 1871. This photograph was taken by Glen Young in 1995. Later known as Oliver’s Bar the building is still standing but no longer licensed.
